US' INDA appoints MaryJo Lilly as market intelligence leader

INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, has named MaryJo Lilly as its new market intelligence leader. Lilly brings more than 20 years of expertise in nonwovens and engineered materials with a strong background in the disposable, medical, and specialty materials industries. Lilly holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Swiss firm Autoneum creates fully recyclable automotive carpet system

Switzerland-based leading acoustic and thermal management supplier for vehicles Autoneum has created a fully recyclable carpet system that is made of 100-per cent polyester. The carpet system is made with high content of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET), latex-free manufacturing process, and less energy-intensive production process.

US’ Hanes Geo Components to buy Canada-based company Nilex Inc

American manufacturer and supplier of geosynthetic and environmental products Hanes Geo Components has reached an agreement to acquire Edmonton-based geotextile distributor Nilex Inc and its wholly owned subsidiary Nilex USA Inc. Hanes Geo Components, has made this decision with an intention to operate Nilex’s business on a going-concern basis.

Freudenberg installs photovoltaic panels on Nantong factory roof

Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel has completed the installation of 13,000 square metres of photovoltaic panels on the roof of its Nantong factory. With renewable energy, Freudenberg plans to support sustainability. Other green initiatives at the factory include innovations that increase energy savings, mitigate emissions, and reduce waste.

Germany’s STFI adopts PLEVA concept to optimise nonwoven production

The Center of Excellence in Nonwovens at Germany’s STFI has implemented a measurement and control concept by electronics manufacturer PLEVA at its spunlace laboratory facility to make the nonwoven production process highly energy efficient. This includes sensors for residual moisture, fabric temperature, exhaust humidity, and a process control system.

Finland’s Ahlstrom reports 29.3% increase in net sales of Q3 FY22

Finland’s manufacturer of fibre-based products Ahlstrom has posted 29-per cent growth in net sales to €867.1 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2022, ended September 30, 2022. The company’s comparable EBITDA improved to €120 million in Q3 FY22, representing 13.8 per cent of net sales, compared to €82.7 million in the corresponding period of FY21.

Absorbent hygiene players from 30 nations gather at US’ Hygienix 2022

INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, convened 500 absorbent hygiene and personal care professionals from 30 countries and throughout the supply chain to participate in the eighth edition of Hygienix. The premier event for absorbent hygiene and personal care markets was held in New Orleans city, Louisiana, from November 14–17.
