The company has completed the ownership reorganisation of its decor business and thus proceeded with its plan to change its name to Ahlstrom. Sri Lanka waives off tax on raw materials for sanitary napkins

The Sri Lankan government recently initiated measures to waive off duties imposed on five imported raw materials for sanitary napkins produced in the country to make hygiene products more affordable for women and school girls, according to the Presidential Media Division. Japan’s Toray develops fabric using 100% plant-based polyester

Japan-based textile industry company Toray Industries, Inc, has announced that it has developed a new variety of nonwoven material, Ultrasuede nu, which partially consists of 100 per cent plant-based polyester. All Nippon Airways Co, Ltd (ANA), will use the fabric for making the headrest covers of the ANA Green Jet from November this year.

South Korea’s Kolon boosts tyre cord fabric plant capacity in Vietnam

Kolon Industries Inc has increased the production capacity of its polyester tyre cord fabric plant in Vietnam by 14 per cent to 19,200 tons of tyre cord fabrics compared with 2018. In 2022, the company’s global sales are anticipated to cross 10 million units. Kolon is presently able to generate 103,200 tons of tyre cord fabric on an annual basis.
