France’s Carbios starts industrial growth with enzymatic recycling

Carbios, a France-based pioneer in the development of enzymatic solutions dedicated to the end-of-life of plastic and textile polymers, has announced it will accelerate the industrial development of its revolutionary enzymatic recycling process (C-ZYME) with the construction of its reference unit in Europe. One of the industrial sites is in France.

Eastman to invest $1 billion in French molecular recycling facility

US’ Eastman has planned to invest up to $1 billion in a material-to-material molecular recycling facility in France. The facility would use Eastman's polyester renewal technology to recycle up to 160,000 metric tonnes annually of hard-to-recycle plastic waste that is currently being incinerated. Eastman is a global specialty materials company.

US’ Natural Fiber Welding makes fabric to replace plastic in clothing

US-based Natural Fiber Welding (NFW) has launched an alternative to synthetic fabrics. It has made a performance cotton textile called Clarus that can be used for clothing. The fabric has been treated to partially break down the organic material and leave it stronger and denser. The result is cotton yarn that behaves more like synthetic fibres.

Austria’s Andritz to supply spunlace line to Biosphere Corporation

Andritz, a supplier of plants, equipment, and services, has bagged an order from Ukrainian manufacturer of household and hygiene products, Biosphere, to deliver its first neXline spunlace line. The spunlace line will enable Biosphere to produce fabrics from 30 to 70 gsm, with an hourly output of up to 3,000 kg/hr after the second commissioning phase.
