The Ontario government is helping Myant to commercialise “connected wearables”, a technology that can sense, monitor and help detect symptoms that may signal the onset of diseases, including those associated with COVID-19. The government is investing over $1.5 million to help the company conduct a broad, community-based deployment of the product.

Turkey's export of medical textile goods reached $1.4 billion last year, according to the Aegean Exporters Association (EIB), which recently said the textile products export sector is recovering. EIB head coordinator Jak Eskinazi said despite the pandemic last year, there was only 8 per cent export loss in textile and raw materials compared with 2019.

Thuasne, a major player in the medical device market in Europe, has taken over the US-based company Knit-Rite, specialised in medical textiles, and its Therafirm division, dedicated to compression.
