Tommi Björnman has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Suominen, effective from April 1, 2023. Björnman holds a master's degree in industrial engineering and has previously worked as the president and CEO of Avgol Nonwovens. Finland-headquartered Suominen is a manufacturer of nonwovens for various applications, including wipes.

In 2022, Ahlstrom has committed to setting science-based emission reduction targets in line with net-zero. It plans to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 38 per cent by 2030 and achieve zero waste by 2030. The Finnish airlaid nonwoven producer SharpCell is launching a plastic-free and fossil-free airlaid material for premium napkins at the Tissue World trade fair in Düsseldorf.
