In the first half of 2022, Suominen’s net sales were in line with the previous year and amounted to €228.3 million. Sales volumes decreased from 2021 while sales prices were higher. US’ Glatfelter posts $2.5 mn loss from continuing operations in Q2

Glatfelter Corporation has reported a loss from continuing operations for the second quarter of 2022 of $2.5 million, or $0.05 per share, compared with net income of $1.5 million, or $0.03 per share, in the same period a year ago. Germany’s SGL Carbon’s sales up 10.7% to €549.8 million in H1FY22

Sales of SGL Carbon for the first half of fiscal 2022 amount to €549.8 million, which corresponds to a sales plus of €53.1 million or 10.7 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year. After €270.9 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2022, SGL Carbon was able to increase sales to €278.9 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2022.

Researchers in Germany invent high-tech textile vest for lung patients

Scientists at Fraunhofer IKTS in Germany have created a textile vest with integrated acoustic sensors that helps in monitoring the lung function of patients with severe respiratory diseases. The Pneumo.Vest features a technology via which noises in the lungs are recorded and these signals are converted and displayed visually using software.

Ahlstrom-Munksjo to reduce carbon footprint at US plants

Finland’s Ahlstrom-Munksjo is set to invest in new technology and convert its existing boilers at its Mosinee and Rhinelander plants in Wisconsin, United States, to reduce its carbon emissions and landfill waste. The Mosinee plant will enable a reduction in its carbon footprint by 20 per cent, and a reduction of landfill waste by more than 10 per cent.
