Japan’s Teijin launches advanced spread-tow carbon fibre woven fabric

Japan’s Teijin has launched a lightweight, strong and cost-effective carbon fibre woven fabric developed with the company’s proprietary tow-spreading technology. The new woven fabric is made with 3K (3,000) carbon fibre filament yarn for applications requiring low weight and design flexibility, such as automotive interior materials and sporting goods.

US’ Neenah Filtration develops Gessner engine air filter medium

US-based firm, Neenah Filtration, has developed a Gessner medium for engine air filters in passenger cars with an improved gradient structure to fulfil these needs. Our A006D medium consists of 100 per cent leading edge cellulose and has a special paper media design – these characteristics lead to an increased lifetime of the filter medium.

Japanese researchers find latest antimicrobial clear coating

The University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Engineering researchers have found a cost-effective way to apply a silver-based antimicrobial clear coating to textiles. The method uses polyphenols, found in food items notorious for staining clothes such as wine and chocolate. A range of textile types can be treated and items can be washed multiple times.

Austria’s Andritz installs tearing line for Portuguese company Sasia

Austria’s technology group, Andritz, has successfully started up its latest-generation tearing line for spinning grade fibres delivered to Sasia at its Ribeirão premises, Portugal. As the first of its kind in Portugal, the machine contains the latest Andritz Laroche innovation for fibre opening, featuring a new-generation pinning configuration.

Origin Materials to invest $750 mn in new manufacturing facility in US

Gov. John Bel Edwards and Origin Materials, a carbon-negative materials company committed to leading the global transition to sustainable materials, have announced that the company plans an investment of at least $750 million to develop a biomass manufacturing facility in Ascension Parish that will result in 1,057 new direct and indirect jobs.
