US’ Domtar to sell Dryden Mill to First Quality

US’ Domtar, a part of the Paper Excellence group, and First Quality, have entered into an agreement to sell Domtar’s Dryden pulp mill to First Quality. The Dryden transaction, to close in the third quarter, is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of regulatory approvals and the closing of the Resolute Forest Products transaction.

Oerlikon to present sustainable innovations at Index23 in Geneva

Switzerland-based systems manufacturer Oerlikon Nonwoven will be presenting its product portfolio for nonwovens applications for numerous technical, hygiene, and medical solutions focusing on sustainability, quality, and efficiency at Index, the world’s leading nonwovens trade fair. The fair will be held in Geneva, Switzerland between April 18-21, 2023.

INDA’s 2023 board of directors gets 6 new members

INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, has welcomed six new members to its 2023 board of directors. The new board members are Ricardo Fasolo, Neil Johnson, Chris Roeder, Paul E Rollin, Jodi Russell, and Julie Schertell. The board of directors are responsible for contributing to INDA’s strategic focus in support of the industry.

US’ Optima Group’s nonwoven biz unit to be led by Dr Stefan Koenig

Optima Group, a leading manufacturer of packaging and filling machines, has announced that effective March 1, 2023, Dr Stefan Koenig, the managing director of Optima packaging group GmbH, will take over responsibility for the Optima Nonwovens business unit. Koenig will take over this responsibility from Hans Buehler, CEO of the Optima Group.

Kelheim Fibres, German manufacturer of viscose speciality fibres, and Sumo are set to present their high-performance absorbent pads for the reusable Sumo diaper at this year’s Cellulose Fibres Conference. Finland’s researchers develop smart fabric that reacts to temp changes
