Mr. Vinay Chand holds two degrees from the London School of Economics and lectured in London for 9 years on Business Economics. He has been a Marketing Consultant for 32 years, often acting as Team Leader, for clients including: UN Agencies (ITC, FAO and UNDP); European Commission; IFC/World Bank; ADB; Commonwealth Secretariat; US AID; NORAD; SIDA and for private clients.

Mr. Chand is a leading specialist in production, processing, distribution, marketing and market development and promotion of soft commodities and has experience in 56 countries. Currently he is the CEO of Xzero, a Swedish public company engaged in water purification and is the owner of Vinay Chand Associates, a UK based Consultancy. Since 1976, Vinay Chand has looked at export markets for jute, coir, sisal, abaca, palm fibre, geosynthetics and gabions for erosion control as well as other applications.

For long he has been the standing member of the International Erosion Control Association and is a member of their Economic Research Committee. He is also a Member of the International Geosynthetics Society. In recent years, Mr Chand was Moderator and Author of the Jute Road Map which has been published as a Technical paper by CFC and was Author of the Technical paper for them on High Value Coir products.

He has undertaken feasibility studies that have resulted amongst others in a Rubberised Coir plant in Sri Lanka, a Coir Stitched Blanket plant in Ghana and is helping set one up in the Dominican Republic.
