Itis not surprising that most people are not aware of Nonwoven despite the factthat most of them may be directly or indirectly using or coming across itseveral times each day. Nonwoven have even been described by some as invisiblefabrics as we use them without realizing it. It can be seen below how Nonwovenhave been a part of your daily life and yet some of you may not even be awareof this.
Nonwoventechnology is one of the conventional sectors of the "traditional"textile industry and was best known for making felt used in craft products.Indeed, felted fabrics were around for centuries before weaving or knittingtechnology were invented.
1.1 TESTING OF NONWOVEN FABRICS
Testingof any product provides a means of standardization in terms of quality andproductivity. In textiles, we have to test from raw material to the finishedproduct. End-use oriented tests determine how the product will stand up towear. The aim may be to identify possible end uses or compare raw materials andfabrics to arrive at optimum compatibility for a pre-determined end use.
