"The Indian market for technical textiles is estimated at $14 billion, and is expected to grow multi-fold in the coming decade," Sumit Mall, director of Times Fibrefill, an India-based manufacturer of technical textiles and home furnishings told Fibre2Fashion.com. "Within the many sectors, geo-tech, build-tech, medi-tech and agro-tech are going to be the major drivers of growth."
"Most of the well-known Indian brands in technical textiles like SRF, Supreme Nonwovens, etc are known in the market for their quality products," Mall said. "In the non-consumer segments, good quality manufacturers have been able to create brand-loyalty among their customers through consistent supply."
The growth of the technical textiles industry would be a revolution in India, he stated. India is the leading player in technical textiles after Germany, China, the US, Brazil, Spain and Turkey.
Citing the example of Times Fibrefill, he said the company has been growing by 30 per cent every year since 2011. The company now plans to increase this growth rate to 50 per cent by adding capacity for geo-textiles and providing high-quality fire retardant solutions for safety wear, automotive, home furnishing and insulation.
