“After successful launching PP Spunbond technology, we are now poised to provide PE Spun bond technology and know-how - which will bring revolution in the Indian market”, says the Product Manager of a well-known Indian extrusion machinery producer.

Rajoo Engineers Ltd pioneered developments in PP nonwoven fabric extrusion technology and has emerged as the only Indian supplier with production capacities ranging from 200 to 500 kg/hr and fabric weight range from 12 to 150 gsm depending on applications.

Speaking exclusively to technicaltextile.net, Mr Deven Mehta, Product Manager of Fabrex, which is the textile division at Rajoo Engineers said, “India contributes nearly 8% to global market size of technical textiles which is expected to increase to round 12%.

“Industry in India consumed an estimated 46,966 tons of nonwoven materials in 2007, which is almost triple the volume consumed in 2002. We forecast Indian nonwoven consumption will rise almost 13% per year to 85,647 tons by 2012 and then grow at around 10% per annum”.

According to Mr Mehta, growth in the nonwovens industry, as all other industries, is linked to the GDP of the country and personal purchasing power. Hygiene, filtration, medical, military, alternative energy, automotive, geotextiles, building/construction and protective clothing continue to offer nonwovens producers' new opportunities and help them achieve higher revenue generation.

When asked to comment on the extrusion technology at Rajoo Engineers, he informed, “Rajoo offers world-class machinery to manufacture various varieties of nonwoven fabric which is comparable at par with any leading European manufacturers. Major inputs being used in our machines are of European origin which ensures reliable performance and durability.

“Uptime of Rajoo machines is extremely high with door-step after-sales-service as compared to competition from Far Eastern sources. Energy efficiency is the key for success in plastic processing and Rajoo's nonwoven lines are established as the most energy efficient nonwoven machinery available in the Asian markets”.

Sharing details on new developments in nonwoven technology at Rajoo Engineers, he revealed, “After successful launching of PP Spunbond technology, we are now poised to provide technology and know-how to make PE Spun bond technology - which will bring revolution to the Indian market.

“In the near future, we will are also coming up with SS, SMS and SMMS technology and will continue to offer our customers world class technology at affordable price levels”.

Mr Mehta is of the opinion that the Indian Government should continue the TUFS scheme and provide tax benefits for initial five years of operation which will provide new entrepreneurs, an edge in the competitive global markets and overcome competition from China.

He adds, “There should be good incentives on nonwoven exports which will result in more export oriented units being set up and help the Indian nonwoven industry to achieve benchmark status in the global market place”.
