Act Global is a FIFA Preferred Producer for Football Turf, and their artificial turf is featured in professional sports stadiums and community fields in over 70 countries around the world. However, in addition to sports turf, Act Global has also engineered synthetic turf developments for new markets.
“What started as a sports field product has developed into specialized systems for landscaping, landfill and airport uses as well,” said Chris Clapham, director of Act Global.
Clapham noted that factors such as rapid population growth, urbanization, drought and pesticide use continue to impact water supply and ecosystems, as well as the number of green playing surfaces available for children and athletes.
“With our technology and research, and by looking at these issues in a different way, we can solve a lot of these challenges,” said John Baize, Act Global director. “We can get young people off the streets and onto our playing surfaces, and give children access to more playgrounds. We can cap landfills safely, enhance airport operations, and we can save water and reduce pesticide use in the process.”
Act Global’s most recent product development, LiteEarth, is a synthetic turf geomembrane liner used for long-term closure of landfills, coal ash and other earth capping applications. The synthetic grass provides an aesthetically pleasing, natural looking surface to surrounding communities. LiteEarth is efficient, environmentally friendly, and can significantly reduce costs over traditional landfill covers. It has been extensively tested and exceeds the infiltration and erosion requirements as specified in RCRA Subtitle D.
