Aerospace components supplier Shimtech Industries said it has acquired US based Angeles Composites Technologies, Inc. (ACTI).
“This latest acquisition further cements Shimtech’s position as a world class composite structures supplier,” Shimtech said in a press release.Aerospace components supplier Shimtech Industries said it has acquired US based Angeles Composites Technologies, Inc. (ACTI). “This latest acquisition#
“It follows the 2013 acquisition and subsequent, multi-million dollar expansion, of Performance Plastics, Inc. based in San Diego, California,” it added.
ACTI operates from a purpose-designed campus in Port Angeles, close to the major aerospace corridor of Seattle, Washington.
ACTI designs and manufactures autoclave and oven-cured composite components and structures including high temperature materials, tooling and final assembly of primary and secondary airframe substructures.
Key programmes supported by ACTI include the F-35, F-22, B737, B777, B787 together with Bombardier’s Global Express and Q400.
Typical products manufactured by ACTI include aircraft flight control surfaces, nacelles, fairings, cowls, panels, doors and brackets as well as other reinforced thermoset components and structures.
Shimtech CEO Howard Kimberley said, “ACTI has a very broad capability base and a reputation for providing high quality, build-to-print solutions for composite parts as well as large, complex structural sub-assemblies.”
“As well as more than doubling our current autoclave and lay-up capacity, the acquisition of ACTI provides a significant up-shift in the size, scale and complexity of Shimtech’s capability,” he too added.
“With the integration of ACTI, we can now fabricate much larger composite structures of up to 40 feet in length with a cross section of up to 10 feet,” he informed.
“We also now join a small group of suppliers worldwide with the capability to cure at the highest possible temperatures required by higher performance thermoset materials and resin systems,” he noted.
The acquisition of ACTI adds both scale and strength to the ACTI Composite Engineered Structures division and will further enhance its ability to deliver value to our global customers. (AR)
