The Porsche 911 Targa and Audi Allroad Shooting Brake concept car both are making their global debuts in Detroit, each with Alcantara materials.
Porsche's limited edition 911 Targa, a modern version of its iconic models from the 70's and 80's, features a metal rollbar separating the roof from its glass rear window. Both the 4 and 4S versions of the Targa have pillars and rollbars covered with grey Alcantara.
For the debut of its Allroad Shooting Brake concept car, a compact, sporty crossover with a plug-in hybrid engine, Audi chose dark grey perforated Alcantara for the center section of the concept vehicle's four individual seats and door panels. The new concept features a strong environmentally conscious design. Alcantara, among the first materials to have gained carbon-neutral certification, was a natural choice for the car's interior.
Besides being featured on world premieres from Porsche and Audi, Alcantara also is being showcased on a number of other models at the Detroit auto show.
The Porsche 918 Spyder, displayed with the Weissach package in black and silver, uses black Alcantara to cover the center section of the seats and steering wheel. Porsche also chose Alcantara for the Panamera Turbo S Executive, with a dark brown Alcantara headliner and pillars, combined with brown leather seats; the Macan Turbo, with dark grey Alcantara on the headliner and pillars, and the Cayenne GTS, with grey Alcantara and contrasting red stitching on the headliner, seats, door panels and central armrest.
Audi also displayed many of its most successful vehicles with Alcantara interiors. The A8L sedan is being shown with beige Alcantara on the headliner, pillars, parcel shelf and door panels. In addition, charcoal-grey Alcantara is used on the headliner, pillars and parcel shelf of the RS7 and on the headliners of both the R8 and S8.
Other car makers showcasing vehicles in Detroit with Alcantara include;
BMW - The BMW 650i xDrive has grey Alcantara on its headliner, pillars and parcel shelf.
Ford - Ford's F-150 Tremor has sporty seats in black leather with black perforated Alcantara in the center sections of each seat. Alcantara also can be found on the 2014 Edge Concept, which has light beige Alcantara on its headliner and pillars.
Tesla - Tesla uses carbon-neutral Alcantara material on its Model S Performance, with champagne Alcantara on the headliner and charcoal Alcantara on its seats.
Fiat-Chrysler - The Fiat-Chrysler Group accentuates the interior of its 30th anniversary edition Chrysler Town & Country with grey Alcantara on the center section of each seat. The SRT Viper uses black Alcantara on the center sections of its seats, headliner, pillars, door panels and dashboard.
