Bambooby Buddies has recently launched a new nature- and mum-friendly product catered specifically towards easing the leakage problems of breastfeeding mums: washable bamboo breast pads. Tina Standeven, founder of Bambooby Buddies, states that this innovative product was born out of frustration over the limited options in the market:
“When I was a new mum, I used disposable breast pads not realising that there was any other option. But when my second child came along I thought, 'There must be something better than this',” shares Tina Standeven.Bambooby Buddies has recently launched a new nature- and mum-friendly product catered specifically towards easing the leakage problems of breastfeeding mums: washable bamboo breast pads. Washable breast pads by Bambooby Buddies feature four distinct layers of fabric: bamboo velour, bamboo fleece, polyurethane laminated fabric and cotton. Bambooby Buddies breast pads come in two varieties — Day Time and Night Time breast pads — which are options that are also new to the breastfeeding market. Night Time pads contain an extra layer of bamboo fleece and are meant to guard against heavier leakage at night, while Day Time pads can be used for lighter protection.
Tina Standeven reasons that washable pads are much better than disposables mainly for two reasons: these pads are cost-effective and eco-friendly. She also states that washable breast pads are much more comfortable than disposable pads, which can trap air and heat after prolonged use. When asked why she chose bamboo fabric for her product, Tina Standeven offers the following answer:
“After much research I decided that bamboo fabric was the best option for Bambooby Buddies breast pads for a number of reasons. First, it is extremely absorbent — it's actually about 60 per cent more water absorbent than cotton. The fabric is also very soft and hypoallergenic, and therefore will not irritate your skin, which is great if you are a bit sore. Lastly, bamboo fabric has antibacterial qualities that are maintained through multiple washes, and which helps reduce bacteria and unpleasant odours,” she shares.
She adds that bamboo has become her material of choice because of its eco-friendly qualities: “Not only is bamboo fabric super absorbent, it is also good for the environment as it doesn't require pesticides to grow. It is also a highly sustainable resource and the material is 100 per cent biodegradable.”
Eco-friendly Bambooby Buddies breast pads are handcrafted by Tina Standeven herself and come in various prints such as yellow flowers and purple leaves. Those who want a simpler option can also avail of plain white breast pads from Bambooby Buddies. These highly absorbent pads can be bought in pairs or as part of a pack. The bestselling starter pack contains three pairs of day pads along with two pairs of night time pads. Tina Standeven encourages mums across Australia — and even the world — to try out these new eco-friendly products created by a mum for mums:
“As someone who struggled with breastfeeding with my first child I think that it is important to have products that help you through the process. Hopefully my breast pads will do that for you. Bambooby Buddies creates incredibly soft and absorbent Bamboo breast pads that will make your breastfeeding journey even more enjoyable."
