The new RF4 line will incorporate a unique capability of producing significantly higher tensile and isotropic spunbonds. Further, the line will produce both monocomponent and bicomponent spunbonds, utilising combinations of polypropylene or polyethylene and will offer improved filament distribution. The line will also benefit from Reifenhäuser’s latest digital platform.
This investment will be on stream in April 2019.
“The new technologies which will be incorporated in the new facility will broaden Don & Low’s manufacturing capabilities, increase its product offering and provide technical solutions to meet the demands of both market and customers. The investment will also strengthen the company’s position as a technical leader in industrial markets,” said a press release.
In addition, the investment will see the UK’s only spunbond manufacturer expand to create a new unit to facilitate a secondary processing centre of excellence, enhanced by a further investment into a high output, three colour printing line.
The announcement follows Don & Low’s investment in the year 2016 in an Oerlikon Neumag melt-blown line.
