Egypt’s technical textiles sector is emerging with total imports of $605.4 million and exports worth $746 million in 2017, according to a report published by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Exports are growing at a fast rate—a compounded annual growth rate of 51 per cent from 2013 to 2017, while imports are slightly decreasing.
Major imports included polymer-laid non-wovens ($ 96.9 million), coated and laminated fabrics ($93.6 million), packtech ($71.84 million) and protech ($43 million), whereas, major exports included medtech ($283 million), glass fibre yarns and fabrics ($160.5 million), sporttech ($147.2 million) and polymer-laid non-wovens ($66.6 million), says the report prepared by inTEXive consulting.Egypt's technical textiles sector is emerging with total imports of $605.4 million and exports worth $746 million in 2017, according to a report published by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Major import partners were the Asia Pacific ($300 million), Europe ($150 million) and the Middle East ($102 million), while major export partners were Europe ($ 273 million), Africa ($188 million) and the Middle East ($170 million), according to an inTEXive press release.
