Fibertex Nonwovens hikes prices by 11% from June 1

In order to compensate partly for hike in polypropylene (PP) prices, a raw material to produce nonwovens, Fibertex Nonwovens is increasing prices by up to 11 per cent with effect from June 1, 2015.

“During the last many months, global prices of PP have been increasing significantly and are now heading towards a historically high level,” Fibertex said in a statement.

Many factors such as an extremely strong demand for PP as well a supply tightness and shortage of supply of propylene (C3), which is the basic raw material for PP, have been driving up PP prices.

The limited supply of propylene in Europe has led to several force majeure situations at PP producers, thereby creating a very critical supply situation.

“We do our utmost to ensure the supply to our customers; however, we are not able to absorb these increased costs,” it added in the statement.

“In this situation Fibertex will strive to keep and secure competitive prices and continue to take measures to avoid further increases,” Fibertex informed.
