Freudenberg Home and Cleaning Solutions (FHCS), the Freudenberg Group specialist for household cleaning products, announces that it has signed an agreement acquiring the Marigold household gloves business from Ansell Ltd, a global leader in protection solutions.

This agreement acquires the global trademark rights for the Marigold brand, as well as the consumer household gloves business in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Netherland, Hong Kong and Japan. The business has annual sales of around 17 million Euros. The acquisition is dependent upon agreement by the relevant anti-trust authorities, expected in January 2014.

“The acquisition of the Marigold brand complements perfectly our already successful household gloves business. Marigold is a market leader in the UK and Ireland, countries in which we are not yet represented in this category. The brand also has a strong market presence in Hong Kong, Italy and Netherland,” says Klaus-Peter Meier, CEO FHCS. Meier continues, “In addition we will be able to extend our global presence by entering the Japanese Consumer market for the first time.”

FHCS and Ansell have a strong partnership in household gloves which has been in place for more than twenty years. The partnership on these products includes leveraging Ansell’s global expertise in research and development and manufacturing while maximizing FHCS’s strengths in consumer research, marketing and sales.
