The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie -BMWi) and the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry (Gesamtverband textil+mode) are seeking, through the matchmaking programme, to assist exhibitors in making initial contact with potential Russian partners. And the 16 sign-ups have exceeded people's expectations. "We are extremely pleased with the response. It shows that German companies are very interested in the Russian market," says Igor Salomakhin, Head of the Russia-Europe Textile Alliance (RETAA) in Moscow, who is responsible for organising the matchmaking programme. The High-Tex from Germany initiative is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) in collaboration with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and supported by the Confederation of the German Textile and Fashion Industry (Gesamtverband textil+mode). Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH was charged with the organisation and running of the event. High-Tex from Germany has already been successfully held alongside Techtextil India (2007, Mumbai), Cinte Techtextil China (2002, Shanghai) and Techtextil North America (2000, Atlanta). 54 German exhibitors attended the previous event in Mumbai.
