Hohenstein Institute, a leading worldwide provider of textile testing and certification services, will present a free webinar on textiles for health care applications on Wednesday, February 2nd at 12:00 noon EST. The webinar is presented free of charge and is part of Hohenstein's “Under 1 Roof” education series on textile innovation, testing and certification.

Hohenstein's medical textile webinar will be presented by Prof. Dr. Dirk Hoefer who heads the Hohenstein Institute for Hygiene and Biotechnology or IHB. IHB is a global leader in testing and certifying therapeutically active textiles as well as an innovator in new textile technologies.

Dr. Hoefer will discuss the use of textiles in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of health conditions and will share medical textile innovations currently being developed at IHB. For example, IHB has designed a new silicon-based technology for using textiles to deliver drugs and a methodology to test a textile's interaction with skin cells.

Dr. Hoefer will present clinical findings from IHB studies and information on emerging medical textile applications.

“Textiles are being used more extensively in surgeries, to control infections, as medicine
delivery vehicles, and in the prevention and treatment of wounds and chronic health conditions,” says Dr. Sam Moore, managing director of Hohenstein Institute America.

“At Hohenstein, we are committed to helping medical textile companies bring meaningful new products to market with our testing and certification services. Plus, we will continue to develop textile technologies that expand the field of knowledge and help improve health care quality globally.”
