Huvis localizes 100% raw material for fire protective gear

Korean firefighters would be now wearing special fire protective gear that is 100 per cent made of domestic super fibre.

About 3kg of Aramid fibres are consumed to make the special fire protective gear. An 80:20 mixture of Para and Meta is used for the outer layer, and 100 per cent Meta-Aramid is used for the inner layer.

“We are planning to develop functional super fibers, which add stretchability, light weight and water repellency to the existing Aramid fibers, and expand the uses of super fibers from the special fire protective gear market to the safety coveralls and protective clothing markets,” said Bae-keun Yoo, CEO of Huvis.

It has been expected that there will be new demands for about 40,000 special fire protective gear this year, and as of now, 10,000 special fire protective gear have been made and supplied to fire stations. (NA)
