An International Conference on 'Man Made Fibre Textiles' was announced on the sidelines of inauguration ceremony of 'Fibre to Fashion Expo 2011', organized by Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) at Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) at Surat.

The international conference will be held jointly by Fibre2fashion, SGCCI, and Surat Art Silk cloth Manufacturers' Association (SASCMA) at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) on 18-19 November 2011.

On the occasion, Mr. HS Kohli, Executive Director, Reliance Industries Ltd. unveiled Surat special bulletin published by Fibre2fashion. Mr. Arun Jariwala, who is called 'Bhism Pitamah' of Surat Textile Industry was also present on the occasion along with Mr. Rohit Mehta, President, SGCCI.

The exhibition is likely to draw huge participation from buyers participation. “We are expecting more than 3,000 buyers to visit the exhibition. 70 stalls have been booked with display of designer sarees, dress materials and value-added embroidery fabrics,” said Mr. Rohit Mehta.

The spirit of Surat's textile entrepreneurship was visible during the business networking meetings and discussions held at the event. It was also felt that Surat, as a hub for Indian man-made fibre textile sector, needs a global recognition and should get its rightful place on the map of world textile industry.

The proposed international conference on 'Man Made Fibre Textiles' is part of an effort to bring back the lost identity to Surat as a destination for textiles not only in India but in the entire world.
