The Hyundai-Kia “Technology 5 Star” audit is conducted to encourage research and development capability enhancement. When determining award winners, Hyundai-Kia examines four categories to evaluate research and development capabilities, namely fundamental engineering, engineering competency in product development, innovation, and technical outcome, according to a press release.
Johnson Controls distinguished itself from its major Korean and global competitors in every category. In the engineering and engineering competency categories, Johnson Controls was found to fully satisfy the customer's requirements and act in compliance with internal and customer processes.
In the categories for innovation and technical outcome, Johnson Controls' application of new technologies during production set new quality standards and reduced field claims. In addition, the numerous technical dissertations that Johnson Controls presented at conferences were favourably recognised.
Byunggul Choi, general manager for Johnson Controls Automotive Seating's Complete Seat group in Korea said, “Being awarded this important recognition from our customer Hyundai-Kia is truly an honour. It emphasises Johnson Controls' commitment to engineering innovation and partnering with our customers to develop the best solutions.” (GK)
