Germany headquartered adhesive manufacturer Jowat SE has started a new plant in Bandar Enstek, Malaysia with clearly expanded capacities and has replaced the plant in Balakong which was started in 2009.
“The expansion investments are based on the increasing demand for Jowat adhesives in the Asia-Pacific region and on the strategic importance of these markets for the Jowat Group,” it said in a press release.Germany headquartered adhesive manufacturer Jowat SE has started a new plant in Bandar Enstek, Malaysia with clearly expanded capacities and has #
The new Jowat plant in the Industrial Park of Bandar Enstek has been built on an area of 45,000 sq metres and is a favourable location for logistic reasons, since it is located close to the Kuala Lumpur airport.
According to Jowat, the site in Malaysia also ensures good connections to the international shipping routes in the entire Asia-Pacific region.
Additionally it has the advantage of competitive wages, minimal language barriers, an understandable legal system and an infrastructure that is generally well developed.
The new production site has been equipped with latest highly automated German engineering technology so that non-varying adhesive qualities can be offered to customers.
With a staff of about 80 qualified employees, the location in Malaysia will function as regional centre for manufacture, applications and R&D, covering substantial parts of the entire production portfolio of Jowat.
Asia-Pacific is another region, where Jowat Group customers from all global core industries rely on innovative adhesive solutions and on a comprehensive service with the customer in focus.
Apart from the wood processing industry, these customers come mainly from other sectors like, paper, packaging, automotives and textiles.
“Malaysia is not an extension of our workbench, but an independent location and bridgehead, where we are also undertaking product R&D,” Ralf Schelbach, vice president - Asia Pacific at Jowat SE said.
“Being close to the customer in this respect means to recognise necessities as soon as possible and to convert these very fast into marketable adhesive systems,” he added.
Jowat SE is generating almost 75 per cent of Group income outside of Germany and is well under way to reach its declared strategic target.
Its strategic target is to establish the Asia-Pacific region in the medium range as a business division generating one third of the international revenues.
“The new production site in Malaysia is an important milestone on this course,” it informed. (AR)
