JT's Top Shop plans to expand automotive fabrics line

JT’s Top Shop operates both a busy marine textile supply store and warehouse in Midland, Ontario and an online store with an extensive supply catalogue offering thousands of products that can be shipped across Canada.

According to Jari Vartiainen, owner and operator of JT’s Top Shop, the products and services his store supplies are no longer exclusively for the boat industry. Due to an increase in customer demand for motor home and automotive fabrics, upholstery hardware and supplies, JT’s Top Shop has expanded its focus and its inventory.

“Supplying the recreational vehicle and automotive industry has become a bigger part of our business. It really is a natural development as many of the products that we sell to boaters and the marine industry are products that are often used in R.V. and automotive applications as well.”

“We are currently expanding our offerings to the R.V. and automotive industries due to popular demand. New items for our spring launch will include curtain hardware and fittings, as well as a line of covers and textile goods made in Canada,” reports Vartiainen.   

“Our product development team has been working hard to source new products based on customer requests,” says Vartiainen. “Through their efforts we have added an array of new merchandise at great prices, including new upholstery fastening systems, innovative tarp fastening accessories, and we have lowered the pricing on many existing items.”

“JT’s has also been working with our manufacturers to produce an exclusive line of high quality vinyl that we will be able to sell at a price point that our customers will love.”

2013 has been a particularly busy year for JT’s Top Shop. In addition to an increase in the sale of automotive upholstery, R.V. fabrics, hardware and supplies, business from the marine sector has also increased from last year, with orders for custom marine canvas products and Sunbrella products up substantially.

According to Vartiainen, his business has grown, in part due to more favorable economic conditions, but also because of his company’s expanded marketing campaign and increased media exposure. This year, JT’s Top Shop has been featured on Boating Georgian Bay TV and Power Boat TV. They will also be featured in an upcoming issue of a national boating magazine.
