Lenzing has been accepted into the VÖNIX Sustainability Index for the seventh successive year.
The issue of sustainability and thus taking economic, ecological and social aspects of business operations into account has been a key success factor for companies and investors for a number of years now. new factory, making it one of the largest individual industrial investments in Austria at the present time. This project will be accompanied by considerable infrastructure investments. Moreover, once it is put into operation the TENCEL® production plant will generate 110 additional highly qualified jobs in Lenzing in the long term, as well as a large number of other jobs in the region. The most sustainable companies are included in the VÖNIX index (VBV Austrian Sustainability Index) of the Vienna Stock Exchange. Lenzing was represented in this demanding index from the very beginning. This year Lenzing managed for the first time to be rated as one of the top five i.e. among the five most sustainable Austrian companies, along with BENE, BWT, Palfinger and Zumtobel.
About 60 of the largest Austrian companies listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange were analyzed and evaluated according to approximately 100 individual environmental and social criteria. 21 of these firms are included in the current VÖNIX index.
“Since the launch of the VÖNIX index in 2005, it has significantly outperformed the ATX PRIME. The fact that Lenzing is represented in this index shows us that our efforts relating to the issue of sustainability have paid off”, says Peter Untersperger, CEO of the Lenzing Group.
