Swiftwick, a leading producer of athletic compression socks, is proud to announce its Cut-Resistant Hockey Sock will be part of the Nashville Jr. Predators ice hockey league uniform during the upcoming season. This is the first time in the league’s history that all players on the Squirt, Peewee, Midget and Bantam teams will wear a protective sock.

Already the sock of choice for several National Hockey League teams and players, the Jr. Predators are the first youth hockey league to have a relationship with Swiftwick.

Stu Grimson, President of the Nashville Jr. Predators and a former NHL player says adding a protective sock is the right move for the Jr. Predators. “I’m very impressed with the Cut-Resistant Hockey Sock Swiftwick has developed, and our association is pleased that we can support a local Tennessee company,” said Grimson. “Accidents happen on the ice. As a former pro and the father of a young player, I believe we need to give our athletes all the additional protection we can as they play the game they love.”

The Swiftwick Cut-Resistant Hockey Sock delivers superior cut and impact resistance against potentially devastating Achilles tendon injuries that players can incur after coming into contact with razor-sharp hockey skates. The sock provides protection where it is needed, but doesn’t negatively impact play or cause discomfort.

“We’re proud to partner with the Jr. Predators organization—Swiftwick’s hometown league—to ensure young players are protected on the ice,” says Mark Cleveland, Swiftwick's co-founder and CEO. “Our sock combines cut-resistance, moisture-wicking technology and compression, without compromising the comfort provided by the sock, offering a sock that performs double duty providing protection and enhanced performance.”

To create the sock, Swiftwick uses an ultra-high modulus composite yarn based on state-of-the-art cut and ballistic-resistant fiber technologies. The end result is a sock comparable in strength to the materials used in bullet-proof vests, but is still comfortable to wear.

Lab tests by Teijin Limited, a global group involved in creating advanced fibers and composites, confirm that Swiftwick's new hockey sock doubles the protection against force impact slices of other protective hockey socks and rivals any Kevlar hockey sock for protection against abrasion. The sock was also featured in Textile World Magazine where it was praised for its “unique construction (which) has been enthusiastically received by professional hockey players on several teams.”
