In response to the increased use of aluminum in trucks and passenger vehicles, PPG has developed the Versabond pretreatment system, which employs the latest in zinc-phosphate hypernucleation technology.
The industrial coatings business of PPG Industries' will showcase new products during preview days at the 2015 North American International Auto Show#
This technology helps to accelerate crystal formation and thereby reduce the production of sludge by up to 50 per cent in some pretreatment systems.
Other environmental and performance benefits associated with the Versabond pretreatment system include 10 to 20 per cent lower processing temperatures and excellent corrosion resistance and adhesion due to its ability to uniformly deposit small, densely packed zinc-phosphate crystals.
“As one of few companies in the world to manufacture pretreatments, e-coats, primers, basecoats and clearcoats, PPG is uniquely positioned to provide products and services for every stage of the coating process for aluminum and steel substrates,” it says.
With liquid and powder coatings and an extensive palette of colors, finishes and special effects, PPG can support conventional high-volume, low-pressure (HVLP), electrostatic and air-turbine spray application technologies through a global technology and service network. (AR)
