Demonstrating the importance of business creation and expansion, Kuraray Co., Ltd. (President: Fumio Ito; Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereafter "Kuraray") announces its decision to construct a new production facility in order to promote the market development of its artificial bone graft medical devices. Details are as follows.

Background of the New Production Facility

Limited sales of artificial bone graft medical devices to certain hospitals and other institutions were commenced in November 2009. However, Kuraray has decided to construct a new production facility after deeming it necessary to upgrade its supply system in order to further promote the commercialization of these products.

Location Kuraray Kurashiki Plant (7471, Tamashimaotoshima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture 713-8550, Japan)

Production capacity 100,000 units per year

Scheduled commencement of operations Spring 2013

Capital investment Approximately ¥500 million
