Last year, RIL had purchased the assets of Kemrock Industries. RIL is now concentrating on thermoset composites such as carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (FRPs). RIL’s annual report added that an important attribute of FRPs is the capability to deliver superior strength, which is better or similar to steel, at a notably lesser weight. It further added that FRPs have a long lifespan, require less maintenance, can be moulded in any shape, and are corrosion resistant.

RIL stated in its annual report that RCS will focus on specifications and design-driven applications and markets, which have the ability to grant higher returns. The core focus areas for RCS include parts for metros and railways, and windmill blades, which have high safety and performance standards. RIL’s annual report also stated that RCS would create and control high-volume and low-cost products such as homes and modular toilets, to support the Indian government’s initiatives, which include Housing for All programme, disaster relief measures, and the Swachh Bharat Mission.
