The 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) was held on 27th September 2012 at MayFair Banquet hall, Mumbai. The AGM was inaugurated by Shri A B Joshi and special address was delivered by Shri Dilip Jiwrajka, CMD, Alok Industries. In his key note address, the Textile Commissioner informed the members that Ministry is working on the proposal to enhance the allocation under TUFS for technical textiles.
However this has to go through Technical Advisory Cum Monitoring Committee (TAMC) and Inter-ministerial Committee (IMSC) of TUF. He also informed that proposal to continue TUFS beyond 31.03.2013 is also under consideration. He also mentioned that Technology Mission on Technical Textiles (TMTT) will continue during the 12th plan. Shri Dilip Jiwrajka emphasized on the importance of innovation, R&D, technology, right product and regulations for the growth of the technical textile industry.
He also elaborated on the vision of the Alok Industry with regard to technical textile industry.
The highlight of the AGM was open house discussion on the theme of “Role of ITTA in the growth of technical textile industry”. The members actively participated in the discussion and many new points emerged for taking forward ITTA for the growth of the industry.
ITTA announced the setting up of two regional offices, one at Surat and another at Coimbatore.
The ITTA also announced the new board of directors and office bearers. The new board includes Shri Dilip Jiwrajka, CMD, Alok Industries, Shri Vayu Garware, ED, Garware Wallropes, Shri P. K. Kannan, Reliance Industries, Shri Kamal Johri, Nobal Hygine, Dr. Ashok Desai, BTRA, Shri Gangophadhay, director, Sasmira, Shri Senthil Kumar, CMD, BKS Textiles, Shri Amit Agarwal,CMD, CTM Textiles, Shri Chandrakant Ketan, Entremonde, Shri Gokul Mehta, Haren Textiles, Shri Rajesh Somani, Lahoti Terra knit fab Ltd., Shri Arun Jariwala, Shri Mukesh Vijaywargi, President, Klopmann, Mr Bardhan – Wool research Association.
The board of directors elected the new office bearers as follows Shri Mohan Kavrie, -Chairman, Shri Senthil Kumar-Vice Chairman, Shri V Kannan-Finance Director and Shri Amit Agarwal-Hon Secretary.
