From 12th to 14th October 2011 SINCE will unite nonwovens experts from all over the world. The professional platform provides an ideal opportunity for Lenzing to present its leading fiber solutions.

Lenzing Viscose® and TENCEL® are characterized by the unrivalled combination of environmental responsibility and natural performance. The increasing interest in “balanced” fibers for end uses such as wipes and hygiene applications has resulted in a long-term growth strategy with a strong focus on Asia.

Mission to grow

Lenzing has been active in Asia for many years. “Realizing the importance of this emerging region at an early stage we have been supplying quality fibers from PT South Pacific Viscose (Indonesia) for more than a decade. During this time we have grown strategically in order to meet the needs of the supply chain today and tomorrow”, explains Geoff Collins, Sales Director Asia. Last year the Lenzing Group has installed a 4th nonwoven fiber production line at PT South Pacific Viscose which is currently further expanded.

The second production site for Lenzing Viscose® in Asia is located in Nanjing (China). Geoff Collins adds: “Since the start-up in 2007 the best practice plant is setting new quality benchmarks in China which has positively stimulated the demand for Lenzing fibers. We will respond to the needs of the Chinese market by starting a new production line in 2011.”

Performance is key

Lenzing fibers are naturally absorbent and pure, like the cellulose from which they are derived. TENCEL® meets the highest demands since it combines enhanced performance with gentleness to the skin. Lenzing Viscose® and TENCEL® are ideally suited for sensitive applications such as wipes and facemasks as well as hygiene or medical products. Beyond this, they are tailored to provide optimized performance in technical applications.

Focus on sustainability

Lenzing fibers are made from the renewable resource wood. This allows them to biodegrade fully after use. Geoff Collins says: “We can see an ongoing trend towards high quality fibers that combine top performance with environmental responsibility. Lenzing is driving this development since our fibers come from nature and return to nature.”

Sustainability begins with the raw material. Hence, Lenzing sources wood from responsibly managed forests. The focus on sustainability continues all the way through the production of Lenzing fibers. This is one of the reasons why Lenzing Viscose® and TENCEL® have been awarded with numerous ecolabels.
