The companies have successfully tested the new process on a laboratory scale, and the concept is now being transferred to a dynamic process. A pilot phase will be launched later this year before being implemented industrially, the two companies said in a joint media release.
As a part of their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) by 2050, Essity has been working towards producing sustainable and environmentally friendly products. Recently, Essity became the first company in the industry to produce tissue in a CO2-free production process using renewable hydrogen.
