Solar Team Twente has gained the third position in the World Solar Challenge in Australia. Never before the red solar car has gained such a high ranking.

One and a half year ago, the team of 16 students from the University of Twente and Saxion High School in the Netherlands began with the preparations for the World Solar Challenge, a race focused on sustainable passenger transport.

A year later Solar Team Twente presented The RED Engine to the general public during the disclosure by King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

Textile technology company TenCate congratulates Solar Team Twente with this result, Twente’s highest position ever in the World Solar Challenge.

TenCate gave this team the most advanced thermoset composites for automotive application.

This carbon fabric is 1.5 times stronger and 1 times lighter than conventional carbon fibers. The RED Engine weighs only 139 kilograms, the lightest solar car ever in the World Solar Challenge.
