Technical Fibre Products (TFP) will exhibit nonwoven solutions for advanced composites – such as Optiveil, Optimat and Tecnofire ranges – at Composites Europe in Stuttgart during September 19-21, 2017. These materials, the lightest weight and broadest range of wet-laid nonwovens in the world, can fulfil numerous functions in an advanced composite structure.
These materials enabling a high quality, resin rich surface finish and impart surface functionality such as EMI shielding, corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, electrical conductivity and static dissipation.Technical Fibre Products (TFP) will exhibit nonwoven solutions for advanced composites – such as Optiveil, Optimat and Tecnofire ranges – at Composites Europe in Stuttgart during September 19-21, 2017. These materials, the lightest weight and broadest range of wet-laid nonwovens in the world, can fulfil numerous functions in an advanced composite structure.#
These are also known to preventing galvanic corrosion. TFP's dielectric nonwovens act as an electrically isolating layer between dissimilar conductive materials to prevent the electrochemical reaction that causes galvanic corrosion.
The nonwoven solutions for advanced composites act as a resin flow medium to provide enhanced resin transportation in both inter-laminar and surface regions. Optiveil and Optimat remove the need to use additional flow media and ultimately lower resin usage and scrap.
In addition, these provide a lightweight, effective carrier or support for adhesive films, ensuring a defined and consistent film thickness whilst improving handling and resilience. These also deliver highly effective passive fire protection at the surface of a composite without compromising the integrity of the structure and act as a release material or breather fabric. The company’s latest PTFE veil offers a combination of hydrophobic and non-stick properties.
Also on display will be the latest addition to TFP's range of thermoplastic veils which are designed to increase composite interlaminar toughness. The new development is a high performance veil made entirely from polyimide (fibre and binder), providing the advantage of chemical resistance combined with high thermal stability. (SV)
