Uzbek firm to begin production of medical textiles

An Uzbek company Policotton-patrokl LLC is going to start production of textiles from natural cotton fibre using silver nanotechnology, under the trade brand SilverteX, reports Uzbekistan Today.

Policotton-patrokl will become the first company in Uzbekistan to use nanotechnology for production of textiles, including linen, innerwear and socks.

Silver is safer for the human body and the most powerful natural antiseptic that can overpower more than 700 kinds of pathogenic microorganisms, fungi, bacteria, and viruses, says the report.

SliverteX socks are made entirely from Uzbek cotton yarn dyed with minimal eight percent of synthetic fibres. A special processing endows the socks with silver properties to prevent bad odour, reduce sweating, and inhibit the growth and development of pathogenic fungi.

The production technology of the Uzbek firm is different from the one that is being used by foreign companies. Policotton-patrokl manufactures its products using of technologies developed at the Institute of Polymer Chemistry and Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.

The technology allows silver nanoparticles to secure position on the fibres of fabric, after which the product withstands over 30 washes with detergents, according to the Institute.
