“We're absolutely delighted to have won this new business from Network Rail, and we'll be supplying various garments to their 13,000 trackside workers across 700 different locations throughout the country. We believe this is one of the largest-ever UK contracts to supply orange hi-vis workwear, and it will help to strengthen our relationship with the largest rail infrastructure company in Great Britain,” said Carlton Greener, managing director, Ballyclare Limited.
The new Network Rail approved hi-vis garment ranges cover waterproof, fire protection and arc protection garments. Between them they include a wide selection of jackets, trousers, coveralls, body-warmers and underwear, all of which are approved to numerous national and international standards covering safety, performance and quality.
“The specifications laid down by Network Rail were extremely demanding, right down to the need for the garments to be finished in a particular shade of hi-vis orange which could not be confused with any of the signal lights used on the rail network,” Carlton added.
“However, our extensive experience and industry knowledge allowed us to create solutions which not only met the requisite specifications, but did so with a focus on safety, comfort and breathability for the wearer, even in the toughest trackside conditions. The quality of the end-results can be found in features such as the Gore-Tex material which the garments in the waterproof range are manufactured from. This enables them to meet Network Rail's requirement for garments which can be repeatedly cleaned and still go on providing outstanding performance and a long operational life,” Carlton concluded.
