A new aqueous acrylic binder for nonwovens is now available which meets high thermo-dimensional stability requirements. With ability to impart mechanical stability under thermal strain, the binder is particularly suitable for nonwovens that are used for construction and abrasive applications, and for nonwovens made of synthetic fibres such as polyester.

The binder, Acronal 2434, produced by BASF, complements its comprehensive product portfolio of dispersions and resins. The range of BASF products are going to be presented at the Index fair in Geneva during April 4-7, 2017.

"Acronal 2434 is another high-performance binder that we offer to our customers in the nonwovens industry," says Jürgen Pfister, vice president dispersions for adhesives & fibre bonding Europe.

"Primarily when it comes to nonwovens that are exposed to high levels of thermal and mechanical strain, our novel acrylic dispersion delivers outstanding effects. With this innovative and sustainable binder, we have found a solution that is targeted towards the needs of our customers. This way, we can help our customers to be successful," Pfister says.

The Dispersions & Pigments division of BASF develops, produces and markets a range of high-quality pigments, resins, additives and polymer dispersions worldwide. These raw materials are used in formulations for coatings and paints, printing and packaging products, construction chemicals, adhesives, fibre bondings, plastics, paper as well as for electronic applications such as displays.
