Mr Sujit Gulati said, “There is an imperative need to make automobiles lighter and pollute lesser, which is where compposites will play a big role. Other applications could be construction and other industries. ATIRA has taken a big step by collaborating with Fraunhofer, which is one of the best institutes of its kind for conducting research on composites and I urge the conference delegates to work out plans to increase usage of composites in general”.

Speaking about the partnership with ATIRA, Dr Frank Henning of Fraunhofer said, “ATIRA can use the high technology available in Germany and Fraunhofer can exploit the raw material resources available in India. This synergy between the two will help develop new applications for composites”.

He later presented a slideshow which showcased the various technologies available to develop composites.
