Consumers give thumbs up to Páramo waterproof jackets

Páramo emerged at the top of a long list of waterproof jackets and walking trousers when asked consumers to rate the gear they use outdoors. Results were based on over 16,000 reviews of more than 30 different brands of gear.

In terms of waterproof jackets, 257 consumers rated Páramo – giving 5 stars across the board for Water resistance, Breathability, Comfort, Durability, Fit and Warmth. In total, Páramo scored 92%, ahead of all other brands including nearest contender Jack Wolfskin.

Likewise, Páramo also topped the tables in terms of waterproof trousers with a 93% total score and for walking trousers with an overall rating of 95%.

In July 2013, Which? asked Which? members and the general public to complete an online survey about their experience of using outdoor gear in a range of product areas – waterproof jackets and trousers, walking trousers, socks, rucksacks and boots/ shoes.

16,505 reviews were submitted and the results are compiled in Which? Travel November 2013 issue, to help inform outdoor consumers on the best brands to look out for.

Which? also provide advice on fabrics/ materials and features for buyers of waterproofs and walking boots.

Which? have prepared comparison tables, showing how different gear brands are rated on key aspects – in the case of garments, this included Water-resistance, Breathability, Comfort, Durability, Fit and (for jackets) Warmth. These are summarised with one ‘Customer Score’ per garment type.

- In the case of Waterproof Jackets, Páramo’s overall score is 92%, ahead of all the other brands rated, and based on 257 ratings.

- With regard to Waterproof Trousers, 36 consumers rated Páramo, resulting in an overall score of 93%, with Páramo again topping the table.

-For Walking Trousers, Páramo’s overall score is 95%, based on ratings by 34 consumers, once more placing the brand at the top of the ratings table.
