Cooperation between Donghua University and USTER

A ceremony on the occasion of the cooperation between Donghua University (DHU) and USTER Technologies took place at the company's office in Suzhou (China). Leaders of both sides attended this event to celebrate the nomination of USTER as Base Education for an Industrial Master Student Program, which is a further engagement of USTER to support the textile industry experts of tomorrow. Every year two students of the master courses will have the chance to work with specialists at USTER to gain information, know-how and experience to bring into the research part of their master thesis.

The first cooperation between the DHU and Uster Technologies started with a talent-training program in 2007. Three years later USTER established a new post-graduate training program with DHU supporting students to collect working experience in hi-tech multinational corporations and to learn from leading textile technology companies. USTER also gives scholarships and sponsors an award. Last but not least Richard Furter, a recognized expert for textile technology having worked for USTER for decades, is giving lectures to the elite of students at DHU.

The recent ceremony underlines the goal to continue the intense cooperation on both sides. Among the honored guests of the ceremony were, Huisheng Shu, Director of DHU Postgraduate Institute; Yiping Qiu, Director of DHU Textile Institute; Dr Naiming Wei, Executive Vice President and Head of Asia Operations within Uster Technologies Ltd; Thomas Nasiou, Executive Vice President of Textile Technology within Uster Technologies Ltd; and Richard Furter, Emeritus Head of Textile Technology also within Uster Technologies Ltd. At the end of the ceremony, Professor Huisheng Shu expressed his sincere thanks to USTER for the great support to the DHU scholarship and post-graduate training program. He also encouraged students to study hard and to plan their career well in order to make a high contribution to the Chinese textile industry.

Unique know-how based on sixty years of experience, the development of advanced instruments as well as professional services make USTER an ideal partner of the Donghua University. The Base Education is a further cooperation project between DHU and the Swiss company, which strengthen the collaboration and interaction.
