US’ Shawmut launches small-size NIOSH-approved N95 respirator

Shawmut has launched a small-size NIOSH-approved N95 filtering facepiece respirator to help protect people with smaller faces. The US-made smaller Protex N95 Particulate Respirator Model SR9520S will be sold starting next week alongside its medium/large Model SR9520 on Shawmut’s website and other popular sites for personal protective equipment.

BASF to build hexamethylene diamine (HMD) plant in France

BASF decided to build a new hexamethylene diamine (HMD) plant in Chalampé, France. The new plant is set to increase BASF’s annual HMD production capacity to 260,000 metric tons. Production is expected to start in 2024. Furthermore, BASF will expand its polyamide 6.6 production in Freiburg, Germany starting 2022. BASF is a leading chemical from Germany.

Eastman to invest $1 billion in French molecular recycling facility

US’ Eastman has planned to invest up to $1 billion in a material-to-material molecular recycling facility in France. The facility would use Eastman's polyester renewal technology to recycle up to 160,000 metric tonnes annually of hard-to-recycle plastic waste that is currently being incinerated. US’ Natural Fiber Welding makes fabric to replace plastic in clothing

US-based Natural Fiber Welding (NFW) has launched an alternative to synthetic fabrics. It has made a performance cotton textile called Clarus that can be used for clothing. The fabric has been treated to partially break down the organic material and leave it stronger and denser. The result is cotton yarn that behaves more like synthetic fibres.
