Wearable, stitchable and sensitive sensors from flexible polymers and carbon fibre bundles have been created by researchers at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Like human skin, these respond to pressure, can measure body position and movement, and can be used to measure progress in Parkinson's disease, or sense joint movement in athletes.

The entire supply chain of the wipes industry including representatives from raw materials & fibres, chemicals, machinery, nonwovens manufacturers, wipes converters and producers, regulatory consultants, retailers, and academia will participate at GO Wipes Europe 2021. The two-day international event beginning from December 6 will be held in Amsterdam.

Dabur India will enter the Indian diapers segment as part of its strategy to expand its baby care portfolio, which includes shampoo, soaps, oil and talc, according to the Ayurvedic company, which recently said its ‘Dabur Baby Super Pants’ with insta–absorb technology will help in 50 per cent more absorption compared to diapers of competitors.

OrganoClick has been part of a Swedish-Finnish Bio-innovation project, funded by Vinnova and Business Finland, to develop biobased binders for nonwovens used for hygienic wipes. The project group includes nonwovens company, Sharpcell, and Finess Hygiene, which also manufactures wipes based on nonwoven for the healthcare sector and for consumers.

Sweden’s hygiene and health company, Essity, is launching a pilot project to run a paper machine CO2-free with green hydrogen in the company’s production facility in Mainz-Kostheim, Germany. The project is the first of this magnitude in the paper industry. Essity’s investment in the pilot project amounts to €4 million (approximately SEK 40 million).
