Domtar Corporation, a company that designs, manufactures, markets, and distributes a wide variety of fibre-based products, including communication papers, specialty, and packaging papers, and absorbent hygiene products, has appointed Mary A. Winston to its board of directors.
From 2012 until August 2015, Winston served as the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Family Dollar Stores, Inc., a leading retailer with nearly US $11 billion in revenue which was acquired by Dollar Tree in July 2015. Robert J. Steacy, Domtar's chairman of the Board said, “We are extremely pleased to add Mary to our board. Her experience and skills will be a valued addition to our board as we continue to implement our key strategic initiatives.”
John D. Williams, Domtar's president and chief executive officer said, “Mary's extensive experience in the retail, manufacturing, publishing and healthcare markets, combined with her financial acumen, will be instrumental in advancing our company's strategic growth.”
Before joining Family Dollar, Winston served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Giant Eagle, Inc., a leading grocery and fuel retailer. She started her career as a Certified Public Accountant CPA with a global public accounting firm, according to a press release.
Winston currently serves on the board of directors and is chair of the audit committee of Dover Corporation, a global diversified manufacturer of industrial products. Winston also serves on the board of directors, the nominating and corporate governance committee and the audit committee of Plexus Corp., a global electronics engineering and manufacturing services provider.
Winston obtained a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. She is a member of the board of the Carolinas Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and serves as the chair for its advisory board. (GK)
