DuPont Kevlar begins 50th year celebration with ESPN

DuPont Protection Technologies, an American chemical company, is soon set to kick-off a year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of DuPont Kevlar starting from January 22 to 25, 2015, with the sponsorship of ESPN X Games Aspen.

DuPont will highlight Kevlar and the new Dare Bigger brand platform, along with Armada Skis, Inc., in a new film featuring the research and development of high-performance skis made with DuPont Kevlar that will be used by Olympic free skier and six-time X Games medalist, Torin Yater-Wallace, the company said in a statement.

An advanced material synonymous with strength, durability and performance in extreme conditions, Kevlar fibre has been used in applications ranging from space suits and body armour to sporting equipment and cell phones.

Kevlar fibre is lightweight, extraordinarily strong and flame resistant. The use of Kevlar has been extended to everything from fire fighter and industrial protective clothing to vehicles, fibre optic cables, mining belts, and commercial aircraft and city roads. Kevlar fibre also is used in many consumer products such as mobile phones, tires, sporting apparel and equipment.

Eric Johnson, executive vice president of global multimedia sales at ESPN said, “As the world’s premier action sports event, X Games Aspen is the ultimate destination to kick off the 50th anniversary celebration of DuPont Kevlar.”
