DuPont, the US-based company that manufactures safety garments, has raised alerts against the distribution of fake protective garments in the Middle Eastern countries.

DuPont, which is also the world's third largest chemical company, stated that certain apparel manufacturers, operating from India and the EU, are distributing counterfeit safety garments in the United Arab Emirates and other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), under the name of their trademark brand 'Nomex'.

DuPont said the counterfeit safety garments sold under the 'Nomex' label by other companies does not contain genuine Nomex fibres.

DuPont certified Nomex fabrics have a distinctive Nomex label that mentions compliance, performance and quality of products.

Nomex-labeled garments are designed for firefighters and industrial workers. The safety apparels are highly resistant to UV rays and abrasion.

The counterfeit safety clothing distributed in the Middle Eastern countries is putting lives of several industrial workers at serious risks, according to DuPont.

In recent past, several Gulf countries, which belong to fire-prone region, have taken actions against the sale of fake safety garments such as gloves, high-visibility vests and heat-resistant clothing.
