US’ FRX products named major flame retardants by ECHA

UK’s government retains measures on glass fibre imports from China

The UK government has decided to retain existing measures on imports of continuous glass fibre from China, as recommended by the TRA. This means the UK’s glass fibre industry, predominantly based in Wigan, will continue to be protected from injury caused by dumped and subsidised imports of glass fibre from China for five years, from January 31, 2021.

US students develop carbon nanotube yarn harvesting mechanical energy

Researchers in the US have made novel carbon nanotube yarns that convert mechanical movement into electricity more effectively than other material-based energy harvesters. Improvements to the invented high-tech yarns were called ‘twistrons,’ which generate electricity when stretched or twisted. Their new version is constructed much like cotton yarns.
