The biggest advantage of composite doorsills over those made from traditional bluestone is the superior thermal performance. Glass fibre is an excellent insulator and thus eliminates thermal bridging, condensation and mould. Also, glass fibre profiles have high stiffness and strength, they are abrasion resistant and nearly maintenance free, according to a press release.
John Hartley, R&D manager of Exel Composites UK said, “Venster Techniek turned to us to find a solution for their Flemish-speaking market to replace traditional bluestone doorsills with a more energy-efficient material.”
Jurgen Rensen of Venster Techniek said, “We saw an opportunity in expanding our product range to doorsills with a traditional Belgian blue hardstone look in order to open up new markets especially in Holland and Belgium. The product was developed in close cooperation with Exel Composites. We will shortly be able to deliver exactly the product needed for this market.”
At the German expo, the company is also introducing the wide range of composite window frames, door sills, and facade components. (GK)
